The Merseytram City Centre Loop

In Liverpool City Centre Merseytram will provide a new, easy and convenient way of making connections. The Merseytram City Centre Loop will link a wide range of facilities for the benefit of everybody.

The Merseytram City Centre Loop will connect:

  • The Pier Head, the World famous Waterfront and the Albert Dock;
  • New waterfront developments including:
    • King’s Waterfront;
  • Six of the eight sites run by National Museums of Liverpool:
    • Maritime Museum;
    • Museum of Liverpool Life;
    • Liverpool Museum;
    • Walker Art Gallery;
    • The Conservation Centre.
    • The Customs & Excise National Museum;
  • The Tate Gallery;
  • The “Cultural Quarter” - St George’s Hall;
  • The Empire Theatre;
  • The heart of the main shopping area and the major new retail and leisure development planned for Paradise Street by Grosvenor/Henderson;
  • The main Commercial District;
  • The new “Live/Work” area - hotels, shops, and new apartments around Dale Street;

Merseytram will also provide public transport connections with:

  • Lime Street Station;
  • Merseyrail - at Lime Street and Moorfields;
  • Buses - at Queen Square and Paradise Street; and the Mersey Ferries at the Pier Head.
  • The City Centre Loop complements the wider package of measures in the City Centre Movement Strategy being promoted by Liverpool City Council and Merseytravel, which will be the subject of a separate consultation.
